Part nine- Kisa again

“KISA!”  Evander pounded on the paladin’s door. “Kisa, I know you’re in there! Open this door now!” Evander heard the door latch click. He pressed his body against the latch and found it easily opened. “Kisa!” He shouted again. “What, in the name of the Light, are your intentions?!” His face was red from running so fast. He had only just heard the news. His mentor, Kisa was leaving to assassinate a warlock. Kisa didn’t even turn to him; she simply looked over different cloth outfits on her bed. “Kisa, your place is with the king, helping others here! Helping ME!” Evander stood in the presence of his teacher, his eyes full of rage and misunderstanding, until he heard Kisa sniff. She turned to him, her eyes redder than his.
            “Evander, I have made preparations for you to continue training with Allie (Pronounced Ah-lea <Lea rhymes with say>). She will aid you on your path to knighthood.” Evander emitted a low growl.
            “How can I learn from that MUTE?” He pounded his fists on the table next to him. Kisa moved him away as she settled her cloth garment into a sack of other clothing. “Allie speaks only to those she trusts. Her life has been one of twists and terror, more then you will ever know. Evander, give sympathy where empathy is an inability.” She looked into the eyes of her only trainee. “You have the potential to become a good paladin, Allie will train you where I could not.” Kisa pulled on her backpack, and buckled her belt on her hips. Evander’s fists clenched at his sides. Stay calm, Stay calm. He squeezed his eyes shut to block the flow of tears. He didn’t want Kisa to go, he knew he was being selfish by not wanting Allie as a mentor, but he couldn’t help it.
            “Evander” Came a cooling voice outside his mind. A hand touched his chin. Opening his shimmering eyes, he looked right into Kisa’s. “Evander. It is ok to cry, never find your emotions a weakness. They are all that separates us from the ….evil of this world.” She opened the door and walked out. Evander followed her out into the hall.
            “Kisa!” He shouted. The paladin did not turn to face him.
            “Kisa, when are you coming back?” He yelled down the stone hallway, his echoes bouncing along the wall. Still, the 2nd Lieutenant did not turn.
            “KISA!” He screamed, tears running down his face, his hands clutched around the practice mace he was using. Evander only saw her blond hair flick by as she turned a corner. That was all.
